Every artist struggles with their artist statement. We all agree it's easier it is to celebrate and speak about other people’s artwork... so let's do just that! What happens: · This workshop can be about your work as a whole, or a specific series. The images don’t need to be FANCY; your phone pics are fine. Send me (Cat) links/photos/etc. I will gather them into a private gallery and send the link to the group. · You are committing to looking at 4 other artists’ work and write 3-5 sentences (grammar does NOT apply in this group) about their work and your reaction to it. Don’t read or re-read the artist’s current statement. We want fresh words, please! These words can center around your reaction to the work, any technical skills you admire, the patterns you see, the story you told yourself while looking at it. THEN · Five of us gather (digitally for now), with our homework complete. · We round-robin style read the words we wrote to describe our reactions/feelings/technical noticings to the artist in question. And then the next person, and the next. WHAT YOU GET: · New, fresh, honest words to weave into your artist statements. And/or confirmation that your current statement is reflecting your work’s messages. · Copies of said words, emailed to you for reference later
